Nuremberg Castle — Kaiserburg
The Nuremberg Castle is located on a mountain north of the historical city of Nuremberg Germany.
You will see it immediately once you are here.
It comprehends the buildings of the Emperor ("Kaiserburg"), the mostly vanished buildings of the rulers of Nuremberg ("Burggrafenburg"), and the buildings on the eastern side. Archeological investigations during the last years have proved that the place was already settled around the year 1000.
Nevertheless, it is first mentioned in 1050, as Henry III visited Nuremberg Germany.
It was heavily destroyed during the World War II and restored afterwards in the historical forms.
The former Kaiserstallung is established as a youth hostel nowadays. This makes sense since most youth hostels in Germany are in old, historical buildings.
By the way, all emperors and kings of the holy Roman realm resided here in the Nuremberg Castle between 1050 and 1571.
After this incredible sight and view over the city, let's go back down again and take a look at the city's city hall.
Warmly,
