Dear friend...
First you should know that there are two ways to explore Germany -- by car or by train.
The route network of German Rail is developed very well and you can go literally everywhere with the public transportations.
Besides that it could be more inexpensive than travelling by car. Sure, with the car you are more flexible. This is a disadvantage of a train.
If you have however more time and want to see something of the landscape, you are best served to travel Germany by train.
I travel almost exclusively by train. The trains are comfortable and calm. You meet people and have interesting conversations.

When we further more think of travel tips for Germany and the German Rail, they constantly reconditions their stations. The stations in Germany are an attraction. Whether in Frankfurt Germany, Cologne, Munich, Hamburg or Berlin -- it is always an experience to feel the flair and achitecture of them. Always take photos.
Additionally: ask for the most favorable connections. If you select the fast connections, you will drive in the exciting ICE, but you will not see very much of Germany itself.
Drive in the slower regional trains and you can see more of the country itself.
Do you want to know which is the most beautiful railroad area of Germany? It is the distance between Wiesbaden and Cologne. The course goes along the Rhine river. This area is the UNESCO world cultural heritage. You will feel it :-)
Good for now.
