The Hanover Old City Hall (Altes Rathaus) is an important building in the urban district center in Hanover Germany.

City administration now has its seat in the New City Hall, while in this building are shops today.

It took almost 100 years to construct this hall. First building parts were established in the year 1410. Afterwards, the building got multiplicity of extensions. In the year 1844, a reorganization of the wings took place. At that time, it was planned to torn down the entire building.

Fortunately, a vigorous protests of a citizen initiative under citation of the renowned architect Conrad Wilhelm Hase, prevented that. He was finally allowed to rehabilitate the two remained wings and reconstructed the pure style condition out of the time around 1500.
